Management Committee

The Governing Body for a Pupil Referral Unit such as the Children’s Support Service (CSS) is known as a Management Committee.

The CSS Management Committee is responsible for the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards. It aims to ensure that children are attending a successful school which provides them with a good education and supports their wellbeing.

Strategic Functions of the Management Committee

  • Setting the strategic direction of the school.
  • Challenging and supporting the school in its educational performance.
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school, making sure its money is well-spent.

Governance Structure and Responsibilities

The full Management Committee meets 6 times per year, which all members are expected to attend.

There is an additional Finance, Premises and Personnel Committee, which meets 6 times per year, and reports back to the full committee.

Chairs/Vice Chairs are elected annually from the membership of each committee.

Members visit the school to monitor areas of school development and attend training to support their own knowledge.
